To study in Canada, you need a study permit also known as a study visa. This is a document issued to international students that permits them to legally study at designated learning institutions (DLIs) in Canada. Most foreign nationals need a study permit to study in Canada. The Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC ) requires every student studying for more than 6 months to apply for a study permit.
Eligibility:
- Be fully vaccinated except you’re under 18
- Be enrolled at a designated learning institution (DLI)
- Proof of Financial
- No criminal record
- Be in good health and get a medical exam
- Have proof to show that you will leave Canada when your study permit expires
Student Direct Stream and the Nigerian Express Stream: You may be eligible to get your study permit faster through the Student Direct Stream and the Nigerian Express Stream. Contact us for more details.
Working in Canada while you are a student: While in full-time studies, you qualify to work part-time up to 20 hours a week. During your school break, you may work full-time in Canada.
Extend your Study Permit: If you want to keep studying and stay in Canada after the expiration of your student visa, you must apply to extend your study permit. This must be done at least 30 days before your study permit expires. A valid study permit is important to maintain your status as a temporary resident.
Post-Graduation: You may be eligible for a Post Graduate Work Permit to work in Canada and gain valuable Canadian Experience for one(1) year if you graduated from a one-year program, and 3 years if you graduated from a 2 years or more program.
